Recent Four Points Sheraton Review: "After reading the reveiws to date, I pretty much thought I knew what to expect when we arrived - comfortable rooms, but poor service and loud, thumping club music filtering into the room. I must say - having expectations is great. We were in the area for the opening night of a friend's club, so I was okay with the potentially disturbing club music when I booked the room, since I didn't expect to return to it until after the club downstairs had closed. Had I booked my room with the intention of getting to sleep early, I would have been disappointed because there was indeed club music to be heard from the room. The main reason for this seemed to be the lack of double-paned windows. Having booked the room late in the morning of the date we arrived, and having not arrived until 10pm that evening, I expected we'd get one of the worst rooms in the hotel. I was happy to be disappointed. We LOVED the room. It was spacious (looking at the in-room floor plan, we realized that we had one of the more spacious rooms in the hotel) and very well appointed. Nicer than the pictures shown on their site, actually (we had a Deluxe King - room 319). The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was pin-drop silent once we got back to the room for sleep. Even at Noon when we checked out, the whole hotel was exceptionally quiet. The surrounding neighborhood is great - quick and easy access to everything, and the VTA line right in front of the hotel for easy transport all around the valley. Safe at night, too. I was completely comfortable walking the streets at 3am going for a burrito (La Victoria - 3 blocks from the hotel - has amazing Mexican food, and the place was PACKED). The front desk staff was extremely helpful, contrary to my expectations from the previous reviewers. They directed me to La Victoria for fourth meal, and then gave suggestions and directions for breakfast in the AM. The one thing I feel I should complian about is that they charge quite a bit for a "continental breakfas"

The San Jose Convention Center, the Museum of Technology, the San Jose Museum of Art and the HP Pavilion are located within one-half mile of the property. Over $15 million has been invested towards the Montgomery's renovation, including the extraordinary feat of relocating the hotel 186 feet south of its previous location. | Pluses:
- 10 minute walk to HP Pavilion for games and concerts
- restaurants and night clubs near by
- safe neighborhood
Minuses:
- just 1 note: stay on the side that is not facing the St. Clare Hotel/Hotel Montgomery's parking lot. It's way too loud in the mornings.
Note: This is our 2nd time staying here, and we love it. |

| I was delighted to find a hotel within two blocks of the convention center at a much more affordable rate than the official conference hotels. Pleasant surprises included a safe in the closet big enough for a laptop and floor space enough to actually set up and use the ironing board and iron in the closet (with a convenient plug in the wall to boot instead of having to crawl behind furniture). The bed was comfortable and the sink had enough counter space to hold a toiletries bag. The desk had a drawer with an insert that turned it into a keyboard-height tray big enough to put the laptop at a more convenient height for me. All in all, excellent value for the price.
The only thing I didn't like is that the entrance is at the far end of a plaza running the length of the building, instead of having a door off the main sidewalk along the street. Given the distance from the street to the door and the number of rows of thick trees on the plaza, it was not completely comfortable to return alone in the evening, although nothing scary actually happened and the area seems safe. The registration lobby is also not well marked - it's easy to walk right by it because what is visible straight ahead of the door is a counter with computers behind it, which is in fact free guest computers. |

| The hotel was really nice and in a great location...especially if you are visiting family at San Jose State University. The staff was great! My only complaint is the nickle and dime effect...20 bucks a day for parking, and 2.50 for a cup of coffee at the continental breakfast. C'mon...if you're gonna nail me for the parking, you should at least be able to give up a cup of coffe and a bagel. Overall though, I would stay there again and recommend it to others |

| Small little hotel among the larger hotels around the San Jose Convention Center. Located across from San Paseo Light Rail station makes it easy to take mass transit to and from the airport. Rooms are smaller than the standard room, but they are comfortable and cozy; thus the closet was simply a wardrobe. The bathroom was a normal size. Staff was very friendly. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. |

| Hotel almost blends into the street, drove by twice before seeing it! Interior is very chic and trendy without trying too hard. Standard rooms are VERY small but nicely decorated with the usual exspensive mini-bar. On the downside, the bathrooms have no fans and only a sliding door which is an arm length away from the bed.
Parking is $18 per overnight stay. We were accidently charged for an extra parking night but the front desk was very friendly and quickly corrected the bill at checkout. You really can't beat the location of the hotel, it's well situated a few blocks down from the Fairmont Hotel and a very enjoyable half mile stroll to the HP Pavilion (which we made to see a Sharks game on a Saturday night).
Overall, this is a great hotel for a short stay in San Jose. |

| The hotel needs to be redecorated or upgraded. No ambience whatsoever. The room was well priced and comfortable. Bathroom is too close to bed and bath towels need to be upgraded. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. All other staff were unprofessional. Lively bar. |

| The Hotel Montgomery is a great little hotel. It is very nice and affordable. We asked them to upgrade from a Junior suite to a suite and they did so for a nominal fee.
Service at the restaurant was good. Music was a little loud. They were trying to make it a hip-hop club with 6 people in the restaurant. Maybe it gets busy later in the evening.
We wished that they had a little later room service on the weekends. Their room service closes at 10. They need to set up some type of service with Orignal Joe's (a great Italian Restaurant across the street) for in- room service for a fee.
Overall, it was a good experience. |

| I don't get it. How does this hotel rate 4 stars? I mean, things were generally okay as far as you would expect from a dark, dumpy little downtown hotel. The staff was just there to do their job and not all that convincing that they cared much whether they had guests or not. It would have been a good 2 star hotel. Maybe.
It's okay for the price which was low. |

| Hotel Montgomery provided a substantially cheaper and very comfortable room for my conference at the Doubletree half a block away. Staff was helpful (good directions, made 20 free copies for me when I was pressed for time, friendly). The nightclub that was referenced in earlier reviews as causing problems is no longer functioning and it was quiet. Parking is $20/day; particularly if you are in on weekends there are City garages within a block or so which are cheaper. I'll check rates here before booking my next downtown San Jose stay. |
